The Artful Dodger series - a modern take on Oliver Twist - has got some cracking new additions to the cast. We've got Thomas Brodie-Sangster (you might know him from Pistol & The Queen's Gambit) lining up to play the charming Jack Dawkins - aka the Artful Dodger, David Thewlis from Landscapers and Fargo is now the mastermind Fagin, and Maia Mitchell from Good Trouble & The Fosters is the feisty Lady Belle Fox. As things stand, the first season is up on Disney+, but new episodes of the series are going to drop from the 10th Feb 2026 - and yes, all new episodes will come out on that same day.

What's going down in the second season of The Artful Dodger, then?

Oh Jack is in a bit of a pickle - he's staring down the barrel of a date with the gallows, Inspector Boxer - the new lawman in town - is hot on his heels and if he ever did manage to catch a glimpse of the love of his life Lady Belle its a mug's game for him as far as his life is concerned.

As for Lady Belle - she's set on building a life for herself - one that's got nothing to do with the usual expectations of her social class - but it's a path that puts her well and truly in the firing line. And one thing driving her is a love that's on the edge of falling apart.

Inspector Boxer is having a crack at winning Belle's affections - and all the time, Fagin the cunning one is pulling the strings - roping Jack into what's probably their most high-stakes heist to date. If that wasn't enough, there's a killer on the loose - and to top it all off, the new season has got a bunch of new characters and a whole new backdrop to get the old emotions flowing, slapstick moments to keep you laughing and plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

More information about The Artful Dodger

Season 2 brings a whole new batch of characters that kick the stakes up a notch, with Luke Bracey (star of Elvis and Hacksaw Ridge) as the no-nonsense Inspector Henry Boxer, Jeremy Sims (mr Inbetween) slumming it as Uncle Dickie, and some bright new talent named Zac Burgess (who you may have seen in Cruel Intentions or Boy Swallows Universe) as the enigmatic Phineas Golden.

We're also really stoked that fans get to see some of their favourites from the first season come back for another go around. That first season did alright for itself, getting an AACTA Award nomination no less. Susie Porter returns in all her formidable Lady Jane Fox glory, with Damien Garvey and Tim Minchin right by her side as Governor Fox and the always slippery Darius Cracksworth. Lucy-Rose Leonard is back as the one and only Lady Fanny Fox, joined by Nicholas Burton as the less-than-reputable Dr Sneed and Kim Gyngell as the Professor. We've also got Luke Carroll and Vivienne Awosoga keeping order at the hospital - again! - while Aljin Abella, Brigid Zengenie and Albert Latailakepa pop up as the dodgy crew of thieves Fagin assembled.

Production was based in Sydney, Australia - a classic Aussie location - and the new season was made in collaboration with Curio Pictures, a Sony Pictures Television outfit. Not to mention that it was all supported by the NSW state government through their Screen NSW Made in NSW Fund. Screen NSW chipped in for post-production and even the fancy digital and visual effects.

Jo Porter and Rachel Gardner from Curio Pictures are the brains behind the operation, as both exec producers and producers. James McNamara gets the credit for writing the show, and then also being an exec producer to boot. Cameron Welsh (who's done some really cool stuff on Foundation and Krypton) is the series producer, and Dan Knight, Kate Mulvany and Miranda Tapsell all lent a hand with the writing. Some seriously talented directors - Ben Young (The Twelve, Clickbait), Ben C. Lucas (Nautilus, Shadows in the Water) and Gracie Otto (Ladies in Black, Heartbreak High) - brought it all together.
