A real one-off when it came to playing the bad guy in some cult movies from the 1990s, Peter Greene was found dead on a Friday (December 12, 2025) in his Manhattan apartment, though at the time of this information, he was 60 years old.
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, on October 8th, 1965, Peter Greene made his television debut with a guest role in the NBC series Hardball back in 1990, and his film debut alongside Edie Falco in Laws of Gravity (1992). The following year, he starred in Clean, Shaven (1993), which went on to be a 1994 Cannes Film Festival entry. You probably know him best for two standout roles in 1994 - his chilling turn as Zed, the sadistic kidnapper in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (which won a Palme d'Or at Cannes) and that of the intimidating gang boss Dorian Tyrell in The Mask starring Jim Carrey.
Greene went on to appear in a host of films, including The Usual Suspects, Training Day, Blue Streak, The Bounty Hunter and End Game. On the small screen, he was a regular in The Black Donnellys (NBC) and he popped up with recurring roles in Life on Mars (ABC) and Chicago P.D. (NBC), and more recently appeared in an episode of The Continental, a prequel to the John Wick franchise.
Colleague and manager Gregg Edwards broke the news to Deadline, praising Peter Greene as "one of the better character actors out there" and adding, "He was a good friend who would do anything for you. He was loved and will be deeply missed."
At the time of his death, Peter Greene had a couple of projects lined up: a film called Mascots with Mickey Rourke and a documentary called From the American People: The Withdrawal of USAID - the latter of which he narrated alongside Jason Alexander and Kathleen Turner; a project he dedicated himself to exposing the terrible truth about the dismantling of USAID's efforts - and the devastating impact that has on world mortality figures.
