Some facts about Sadie that you might not know
Sadie Sink is one of the most talented actresses of her generation - and that's not just hype. Since breaking out on the world stage with Stranger Things, she's shown she's got depth, pushing herself in theatre and arthouse flicks, and she's got some big projects lined up for 2025 and beyond. Here are eight interesting facts about her life and career that led her to where she is.
1. Sadie Sink: How She Got Her Start in Theatre and Ended up in New York
Sadie Sink started out young. The story goes that she was too young for a role she desperately wanted, but she asked her mom if she could still audition anyway. At that point, it's fair to say she was hooked on acting for life. Her family were super supportive and moved her from Texas to New York so she could really develop as an actress. When she was just 11, she landed the role of Annie in a Broadway production - which was no mean feat, considering the singing, discipline and stage presence that role requires.
2. Working with Taylor Swift
In 2021, Taylor Swift handpicked her to star in her short film All Too Well: The Short Film. She'd always had her in mind and Dylan O'Brien in the other lead role. The film is emotional and pretty intense, and it really cemented Sadie as one of the most talented young actresses.
3. Sadie Sink has Imposter Syndrome
You'd think Sadie would be totally confident by now - but actually, she's confessed to feeling like she's just faking it all the time. It's something a lot of people in the entertainment industry struggle with - constantly comparing yourself to others when you know you're in a cutthroat industry. Sadie said that she's been plagued by these feelings for years, and it's not something she's ever fully shaken.
4. Sadie went vegan at 14
The Glass Castle was Sadie's first major film and that's when she discovered the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. One of the actors on set is a vegan and showed her how easy it was to live a more conscious, environmentally friendly life - and that was it. She'd been vegan ever since and still is today.
5. Sadie Sink: Early Roles, Key Films & getting Spider-Powered
Apart from Stranger Things, Sadie has been building up a pretty impressive filmography. In the early days, she popped up in The Bleeder (2016), The Glass Castle (2017), that right creepy Eli (2019) and the Fear Street trilogy (2021). She then really won us over, both audiences and critics alike, thanks to her role in Darren Aronofsky's The Whale, where she plays Ellie - the daughter of the main character. Her performance in the role got her rave reviews and even landed her a Critics' Choice nom for Best Young Actress. The year 2025 is gonna be a big one for her: shes got a part in Berlin Nobody with Eric Bana lined up and is also working on the musical O'Dessa - the team behind La La Land - and the thriller A Sacrifice, again with Bana - and shes also been cast in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as part of the new Marvel trilogy about Peter Parker.
6. Sadie started acting as a tiny tot
Before she was rubbing shoulders with the stars, Sadie cut her teeth in a local community theatre near Houston doing a production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at the tender age of seven. Later on, she landed a coveted role in a production of The Secret Garden, which pretty much sealed the deal on becoming an actress.
7. Sadie Sink and the Stranger Things gang
When Sadie auditioned for Stranger Things, she had to fib a bit and claim she could skateboard and rollerblade - she got the part, but she wasn't too confident at first. Luckily, she put in a lot of hard work to learn the moves and ended up totally convincing. A lot of the time, you see Max and Billy clashing on screen - but in reality, Sadie is pretty close to on-screen brother Dacre Montgomery - they worked so well together on set, it's clear they got on.
8. Private life: Does Sadie have a boyfriend?
Despite all the attention she gets these days, Sadie tries to keep her private life very private. One thing she keeps VERY out of the spotlight is anything to do with a boyfriend. Over the years, there have been whispers about a romance with Patrick Alwyn - Joe's brother -, but she's never confirmed or denied anything - she's been super discreet and surprisingly grown-up for her age.
