The wait for new episodes of "Emily in Paris" is finally over. Here's what you absolutely need to remember before watching! The new season of "Emily in Paris" is about to begin, and some time has passed since the last episode. So it's high time to refresh your memory! We've summarized the most important events of the last season for you.
Goodbye Gabriel, Ciao Marcello!
Emily and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) get the most attention early in the season. The Englishman still loves Emily, but lets her go when he sees her leaving a masquerade ball with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). It appeared for a while that the two would at last meet and have their happy ending. Gabriel, however, wastes this opportunity while on a family ski vacation. When he cannot assist, Emily is driving Marcello Muratori into her arms on a snowy slope, and he suddenly steps into the charming rescuer role.
Marcello comes back to a polo match later and invites Emily on a trip to Rome; the accidental meeting turns into something more. His presence also creates fresh career possibilities as he turns out to be the heir to the Italian fashion house Muratori, the very business Emily's supervisor, Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), is quite eager to secure as a customer.
Regarding Gabriel, despite all efforts, the Emily relationship has turned far too messy. That's the last straw when he eventually moans that he always has to speak English because of her, as she is only gradually learning French.
Emily goes to Rome
Emily bids Paris farewell and sets off on a fresh start in Italy in the Season 4 finale. This development signals both the end of her relationship with Gabriel and the start of her love affair with Marcello. He suddenly disappears on her after extending an invitation, but Emily is undeterred and just goes to Rome to get clarity on her emotions and her direction. Sylvie is trying to get Marcello as a client for her agency, but he is initially turned off. Emily seems to be using him, but she shows both actual emotions and professional ability, so Marcello's mother eventually decides to give her a shot.
Emily's future is therefore now in Rome: Sylvie asks her to launch a fresh Agence Grateau branch there, with Marcello's mother among the first customers. Emily has always been adept at balancing work and pleasure, as Sylvie noted; thus, why not take advantage of this chance and find out where it leads?
Camille departs Paris (permanently?)
Camille Razat portrayed Gabriel's (Lucas Bravo) girlfriend and Emily's (Lily Collins) first friend upon her arrival in Paris for four entire seasons. Following splits, reconciliations, a fake pregnancy, an engagement, and a tempestuous romance with Sofia, Camille packed her luggage at the end of the fourth season and departed Paris.
The 31-year-old said in April with an Instagram post with behind-the-scenes photos that her character will not be coming back for the next season. She does not, however, dismiss a comeback later on. "Emily in Paris" creator Darren Star, Netflix, and series producer MTV Entertainment Studios were thanked "for their trust and for allowing me to bring Camille to life and for leaving the possibility open for her return, as she will always be a part of the world of Emily in Paris."
Mindy relocates to Shanghai
Emily's best friend, Mindy (Ashley Park), also had a fun Season 4. She is torn between Nico (Paul Forman), with whom she was also in a real-life relationship until recently, and her bandmate Benoit (Kevin Dias). She travels to Italy with Emily to unwind following her removal from the Eurovision Song Contest.
She performs with street musicians there, finds inspiration in them, and shows off her own song, which instantly becomes popular on TikTok. Her next performance is guaranteed and she will travel to Shanghai to judge "Chinese Popstar." She also judges on "Chinese Popstar."
Gabriel receives a Michelin star and perhaps a new love
There was a new character introduced in the fourth season: Sylvie's American stepdaughter, Genevieve (Thalia Besson). Genevieve had trouble getting started in Paris at first, but Sylvie hired her at the agency where she worked with Emily. But it soon became apparent that Genevieve was taking her role as the "new Emily" a bit too seriously and even had her sights set on Gabriel.
While Emily is wrapping up business in Rome, Gabriel at last learns the long-awaited news: he is now formally a Michelin-starred chef. But Emily is not the one who shares the information; rather, it's Genevieve. Hoping to get closer to Gabriel, she tries to kiss him on this occasion. But he pulls away right away and makes it clear that he just views her as a buddy.
Emily phones Gabriel later and sends him a loving French message. Listening to it, he understands that he still loves her even with all the highs and lows. Alfie even pushes him in this, which indicates he has at last passed Emily. The fundamental issue then becomes whether it's too late.
When will season 5 be available?
Netflix will premiere all ten episodes of Emily in Paris' fifth season on December 18.
