Director Steven Spielberg has returned to the genre that made him a legend with Disclosure Day, a new project that promises to be original and mysterious.

Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day, a new film based on his own idea, has its first trailer out from Universal Pictures. The great director is returning to alien science fiction, evoking the vibe of classics like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "E.T.," and "War of the Worlds."

The trailer, full of suspense and mystery, reveals strange occurrences happening in the world that can't be explained: wild animals behaving strangely, crop circles, car chases, and an atmosphere of impending revelation. Emily Blunt portrays a meteorologist at the center who appears to be losing her sanity as an extraterrestrial entity takes hold of her.

Transparency was written by Spielberg with David Koepp (who had worked with him on Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds). Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and Wyatt Russell join Emily Blunt in the ensemble. The famous John Williams wrote the music.

The film will be released in theaters on June 12, 2026.
