The revealed photo – in strict black and white – shows Omar Sy on set, in tactical mercenary gear, next to the director filming him: an intense and atmospheric behind-the-scenes image that anticipates the gritty tone of the project.
Produced by the Russo Brothers via AGBO, the show will track a mercenary (Sy) caught between rival groups and deadly killers during a risky mission to save hostages in Libya. The initiative keeps the high-octane action while broadening the world of the Chris Hemsworth movies in the face of personal tragedies, betrayals, and life-or-death decisions.
Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) wrote and oversaw the 8-episode series Mercenary: An Extraction Series. Alongside Omar Sy, the ensemble features Boyd Holbrook, Natalie Dormer, Ed Speleers, May Calamawy, Waleed Zuaiter, Sacha Dhawan, and many others. Filming has wrapped in Ireland and is now going on in Morocco. There is no word yet about when it will be on Netflix.

What is the Extraction series about?
Sam Hargrave's 2020 action thriller Extraction is based on Ande Parks's graphic novel Ciudad and stars Fernando León González's illustrations, with Joe and Anthony Russo writing the screenplay. In Dhaka, Bangladesh, Chris Hemsworth portrays an Australian mercenary in secret operations who agrees to a job to rescue the kidnapped son of an Indian drug lord, but the mission goes wrong when Hemsworth is betrayed.
Extraction 2, a 2023 sequel starring the original cast returning, came out. Rake, portrayed by Hemsworth, returned in the movie assigned with a fresh goal: to save the bruised family of a merciless Georgian gangster from the jail in which they are being kept.
Will there be an Extraction 3?
Extraction 3 will be released, or at least according to the most recent information. The announcement came straight from the 2023 TUDUM worldwide event; the protagonist of the first two movies, Chris Hemsworth, welcomed fans, therefore confirming the next Extraction 3 (or as named in the original "Extraction 3"). No other information has come to light.
